Class Gift Committee

Our Class Gift Committee was co-chaired by Sheila Tobias, Fran Byers Schloss, Mari deCosta Terman, and Ann Eldridge, who were also assisted by other classmates most especially Ursula Reidy Turano and Lee Ginsburg Herbst. Our class set a new all-time record for Radcliffe 50th reunion giving, having raised more than $580,000. The participation rate was also wonderfully high, at 67 percent.

Our gift has gone to the Radcliffe Class of 1957 Fund at the Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, honoring ourselves and the memory of our deceased classmates. The money will be used to enable the processing and preservation, digitization, and acquisition of manuscript collections. Please note that our Fund will continue to exist and will be an appropriate vehicle for donations to the Radcliffe Institute.

Global Warming Forum

Two of us (Sheila Tobias and I) assisted seven Harvard classmates in organizing a forum of experts on global warming called "Climate Change: Our Issue, Our Legacy." Almost 200 Harvard and Radcliffe classmates and spouses attended the standing room only event at the Science Center on Tuesday afternoon, which Sheila moderated. Originally not part of the official Harvard-Radcliffe reunions the forum ended up being blessed officially by all.

Class Survey

Airlie Cameron Lennon organized our class survey, and gave a marvelous presentation on the results. The class survey report is now available.

Website Will Continue

During our class meeting at the reunion, there was a strong consensus that we keep our unique class website going. Sheila Tobias, who donated the funds and service to create it five years ago, has kindly agreed to continue her support (assisted by a committee of classmates). Airlie Cameron, who is also our long-time Class Secretary, will now be able to publish Class Notes more often than twice a year, which is all the current Radcliffe Quarterly offers at this time.
