50th Reunion Afterthoughts: Radcliffe Class of 1957

Stephanie Diamond Friedman: Making Peace

I think I finally made my peace, at our 50th reunion, with the feeling that this is not "my class" because I didn't graduate from Radcliffe. '57 may not be my graduating class, but it's the class I entered with, and therefore I am claiming it as "my class." At any rate, it seems to claim me, so I will do likewise.

UC Berkeley, which gave me my BA, has no claim on me. I attended there for 2 years only in order to get my degree; it was largely wasted time for me--apart from living in the wild west for a while and starting to study voice seriously.

Second (but not in importance): Strangely enough, the women I was friendly with when I was a student at Radcliffe are by and large not the people I am friendly with today. (In the first place, most of the former don't attend reunions.)

At each reunion since the 30th--the first one I attended--I have met and spoken warmly and meaningfully with women I had known only by name or by sight at college, and I have found them interesting and valuable acquaintances. Have I changed or have they?

I regret the time I did not know these people--which is most of my life. But ripeness is all. It's never too late. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Robert Wilson: Unique Opportunity

My thanks to you and all of the others who worked so hard on the Radcliffe Class of 1957 Reunion.

As a husband of the Class of 1957, I must say that I enjoyed the entire event. Most importantly, it gave me a unique opportunity to see old friends from '57. All the events were enjoyable and stimulating as well.

I am glad to say that the Harvard Class of 1958 reunion will be held jointly with our Radcliffe classmates.
